About Atieno
Atieno lives in Washington DC with her husband and baby girl. They enjoy their dogs Holliday and Bernie, hiking, travel, reading, and weekends in West Virginia at the straw-bale home on the Greenbrier River that Atieno built from recycled materials with her two siblings.
Professional Qualifications
Atieno is an ICF-certified coach with 11 years experience in facilitating transformation based on a focus on strengths and gifts. She has worked in corporate, clinical, law enforcement, nonprofit, and multilateral settings.
Her unique set of coaching tools was acquired in part through an extraordinary tradition practiced by only a handful of specialists. The founder of the discipline, Jacob L. Moreno, believed in the goodness and expansiveness of the human spirit, the power of stepping into roles rather than talking about them, and the capacity of each person to tap into infinite possibility and energy. Atieno was certified in Moreno's techniques after a two-year full-time apprenticeship.
In addition to this and along with her certification from the International Coaching Federation, she also holds a Master's degree in Conflict Transformation from Eastern Mennonite University, and is a Certified Yoga Instructor.
